Why coconut oil is so good

It’s time to go tropical!

Coconut Oil – Boy, is it good for nearly everything!

And it’s even better when you find it at Aldi (Australia) for $4.99 – and it tastes incredible.

In our family, we use coconut oil in our cooking, smoothies, as a moisturiser, on scars, in our baby’s bath water, oil pulling** and we eat a teaspoon every night (including bubs – and she loves it!).

Coconut oil contains short-term medium-chain saturated fatty acids (MCFAs), which is a “healthy” form of saturated fat compared to trans fat. Trans fatty acid consumption is linked with heart problems, depression and increased cholesterol levels.

What does consuming MCFA fats in coconut oil mean for your body? Our body metabolises these fats in the liver, immediately converting this into energy (fuel for the brain and muscle function) rather than it being stored as fat. Β (Source: bodyandsoul.com.au)

Some coconut oil benefits:

  • quick healing of scar tissue
  • improves skin issues
  • prevents gum disease and tooth decay
  • control weight
  • ease digestion
  • support immunity
  • cooks at high temps without oxidising
  • antibacterial, anti fungal, anti viral
  • reduces inflammation and arthritis
    AND SO MUCH MORE!!

I would think it’s one of the healthiest foods on the planet.

** Oil pulling with coconut oil has been used for centuries as a way to cleanse the mouth of bacteria and help heal periodontal disease. Coconut oil is one of the most effective oils for oil pulling due to its high concentration of antibacterial MCFA’s.

By swishing the oil in your mouth, the oil denatures the bacteria and sticks to it. Removing oral bacteria greatly reduces your risk of periodontal disease. If you want to heal your gums and repair your teeth, Dr Josh Axe recommends coconut oil pulling 3 x a week for 20 minutes a day. (Source: draxe.com)
