Oob Organic Blueberries

Blueberries are so YUM! Who’s with me?

But did you know that blueberries are on the Dirty Dozen list?

The Dirty Dozen outlines a current yearly list of fruits and vegetables that are exposed to the greatest number of pesticides and may therefore carry a higher pesticide residue. See my earlier post for more detail. I try my best where I can to always buy organic versions of all items on the dirty dozen list.

Fresh organic blueberries are difficult to come by, plus I find non-organic fresh blueberries don’t last very long in case I forget to use them within a few days and become shriveled forms of their former self.  So after much searching, I found a frozen alternative which are:

 100% Certified organic
 Frozen fresh
 Packed in New Zealand

We recommend:
Oob Organic Blueberries 450gm packs – purchased from the frozen section in Woolworths.

OOB Organic also sells a range of ice creams. Can’t wait to try them too especially the peppermint chip!

According to their website, blueberries have the highest antioxidant capacity of all fruits. It’s said to help your memory, cardiovascular system and eyesight, too. And if that wasn’t enough, blueberries do all of those things in even bigger doses when they’re frozen.

So next time you reach for the non-organic blueberry punnet, consider trying this frozen variety instead.

I eat Oob defrosted blueberries on their own, in my cereal, mixed through pancake batter and in my smoothies. What’s your favourite way of eating blueberries?
